DSP (Digital Signal Processing) Most Important Web Sites - 2007
As a journalist in DSP, I have to follow the 'top' sites almost on a daily basis. Here are my picks for the 'most important' sites in the electronic design industry / embedded systems...
- eg3.com - As my employer, this site deserves mention for its excellent content in DSP, indeed all of 'communications technologies.' Our main goal is to function as an 'intelligent indexing service' for busy engineers and programmers.
- TI Developer Conference - The TI Developer Conference brings together top world-wide companies and leading-edge products. Providing hands-on labs, demonstrations of emerging technologies, presentations on the latest developments, and expert panels, the conference keep designers, engineers, developers, project managers, and educators abreast of recent advances and future demands.
- EDN 2005 DSP Directory: Targeted DSPs take aim - EDN writes, 'Welcome to the 2005 EDN DSP directory. This directory continues to grow at a substantial rate each year-so much so, that this year's edition comprises an annual update of companies and products that is available in both EDN's print and online editions and a comprehensive table listing devices and cores that is available exclusively on the Web. '
- comp.dsp - Devoted to DSP topics.
- Rice University - DSP Group - A wealth of information for new and experienced DSP engineers. Information on their research, publications (mostly PostScript format), FREE software tools, hardware computing resources, and links to their SPLIB and other DSP-related resources. Contains some new Java applets for teaching DSP concepts.
- Global Signal Processing Times - Bimonthly newsletters, written by engineers for engineers, bringing you the latest developments in the field of Signal Processing Technology. It includes breaking news, information, and expert views on the most important issues regarding Signal Processing.
- Free Online Book - Mixed Signal and DSP Design Techniques - Mixed-Signal and DSP Design Techniques, edited by Walt Kester (Newnes, 2003) covers sampled data systems, choosing A-to-D and D-to-A converters for DSP applications, fast Fourier transforms, digital filters, selecting DSP hardware, interfacing to DSP chips, and hardware design techniques. Online version is FREE.
- A Beginner's Guide to DSP (From Analog Devices) - Having heard a lot about Digital Signal Processors (DSPs), you may have wanted to find out what a DSP does and the applications it supports. The following sections are designed for those who are new to the world of DSP. They provide information and links to resources that will help you quickly begin developing with DSPs.
- Inside DSP eLetter - CMP Media and BDTI are pleased to introduce Inside DSP, a multifaceted publication providing analysis, opinion, and news on digital signal processing applications and technology. InsideDSP is an innovative collaboration combining BDTI's specialized knowledge and insight with the unmatched reach and resources of CMP Media's EE Times.
- Free Demo's: ADI Evaluation and Tools for General Purpose DSPs - CROSSCORE, Analog Devices' DSP development tools product line is focused on providing easier and more robust methods for engineers to develop and optimize DSP systems by shortening product development cycles for faster time-to-market. Components include the VisualDSP++ software development environment, EZ-KIT Lite evaluation systems, and Emulators for rapid on chip debugging. VisualDSP++ is an integrated software development environment.
- Training.TI.com - Wow. A massive archive of training courses from Texas Instruments on both its DSP and Analog technologies. Free courses include - An Intuitive Approach to DSP * DSP Business Overview * TMS320C6000 (TM) DSP Imaging Developer's Kit (IDK) * Analog Electronic Design in a Day! * High Performance Signal Switch Presentation
- Free Information and Articles from BDTI - This archive contains numerous white papers and analyses of the DSP marketplace, published by Berkeley Design Technology, Inc. It is perhaps the best starting point to DSP available on the Internet, and highly rated. The BDTImark2000 is a measure of a processor's execution speed on DSP-intensive algorithms. Higher BDTImark2000 scores indicate faster execution times. A white paper explaining the BDTImark2000 is available.
- GSPx & International Signal Processing Conference - The focus of the second annual vertical event in TV to Mobile Terminals is the technology and implementation of video broadcasting technology and the elements involved in it. The event will feature tutorials as well as industry paper presentations describing real-life implementations of DVB-H, MediaFLO, ISDB-T, DMB, and 3G.
- The Scientist & Engineer's Guide to Digital Signal Processing - The Scientist & Engineer's Guide to Digital Signal Processing, by Steven W. Smith, Ph.D, provides a practical introduction to Digital Signal Processing. Covering a wide range of topics, this book is an ideal introductory text for those new to DSP, and an excellent reference for more experienced users. Begin today to learn more about this powerful technology (E-book from Analog Devices)
- DSP Village from Texas Instruments - Texas Instruments is the leading supplier of digital signal processing solutions. This special website focuses on TI-related hardware, software, services, and seminars. Newly revised 'Getting Started' section is an excellent portal for those new to DSP's. Now included are online web seminars, links to real-world events, best sites for DSP's, and the complete Third Party tools catalog.
