Charting the Future: Embedded Systems, DSP, RTOS, and Electronic Design Info from Jason McDonald
Updated: 7 August 2008
Welcome to my 'workspace' on the Internet. My primary occupation is a 'journalist' covering 'embedded systems.' Embedded systems are 'intelligent devices' other than 'personal computers,' i.e. devices that have a microcontroller or microprocessor, real-time operating system, memory, etc., and can engage in some sort of 'crude thinking.' As a technology journalist in 'Silicon Valley,' I have the wonderful opportunity of researching and following the technology trends that will (someday) alter the world we live in.
That's my day job... Here are some important links to my day job -
- Insiders' Guide: Embedded Boards & Systems - 1st edition guide to selecting boards based on standards like PC/104, AdvancedTCA, VME as well as building your own PCB from scratch. Survey results, vendor interviews, and great appendices identifying all the leading players.
- Insiders' Guide: Selecting an Embedded RTOS - eg3.com's 2nd edition "Insiders' Guide" to embedded real-time operating systems (RTOSes) in the embedded market (January, 2008).
- Insiders' Guide: FPGAs, Boards, and Tools - eg3.com's newest research guide on the FPGA space, especially for embedded systems designers who are considering FPGAs for the first time, and for FPGA (not ASIC) deployment. (October, 2007)
- e-clips monthly - monthly eLetter on embedded and real-time systems for eg3.com
- eg3.com - the leading portal and email service for embedded systems, RTOS, DSP, system-on-a-chip and other 'electronic design' technologies. I write the monthly eLetter among other things.
Other 'embedded links' that I use frequently:
- My Personal Schedule (password protected)
- Embedded Systems and other Upcoming Conferences - a list of the upcoming conferences I may (or may not) attend and cover.
eLetter Ideas...
As I explained, I write the eg3.com monthly newsletter that now goes out to about 42,000 embedded, DSP, board, PCB, you name it engineers worldwide. I am always looking for good story ideas for each month. So send me an email if you have any ideas... j 'dot' mcdonald @ eg3.com or just use this eg3.com form, here.
