You Don’t Need a Whole Company for SEO. You Just Need an Expert.

Many people look for a San Francisco SEO agency, but they mistakenly think that it requires a “big” company to optimize their website for search engines, when that is not the case at all. What is needed is an SEO expert who gets down in the trenches with them. After all, it is not a group of people who create your web content: it is one individual.An SEO expert in San Francisco.

In this case, that one individual is me – Jason McDonald – and I am a San Francisco SEO agency of one. My job is to get you to the top of Google, which is the #1 search engine, and also to the top of Bing which has between 10% and 30% of Google’s traffic and also drives Yahoo. For SEO to work properly we actually need two experts. Google is always having updates – not major ones, but small ones, as it changes things around: there have been three updates this year already, and part of my job is to keep on top of those.

The other expert is you in any SEO project, because you understand your industry, your customers, and your goals. When I know what your goals are, then I can optimize your website. Many websites (even here in digital San Francisco), are not at all well optimized because many web developers are not fully conversant with SEO which is a specialty of its’ own, and they may not fully understand their client’s goals. Naturally, you want to drive traffic to your website, but you want that traffic to take some form of action. Is that to make a purchase? To click on an internal link? To read your blog? To join your membership list?

Then there are keywords. I work with you to develop a list of appropriate keywords, including long-tail keywords.

Backlinks are, of course, another thing that Google wants to see. And not just any backlinks, but backlinks from authority websites. An authority website that links to your website is a form of endorsement from that site: Google reads it as that website acknowledging that yours is important. If you face any struggle with backlinking, you could always hire an expert who could do it for you. Check for a professional web design firm in your area. You could start your search on and other similar sites.

Google also wants to see fresh, updated content on your site, so I will work with you on content as well.

A large number of my clients who need a San Francisco SEO agency are in the San Francisco area, but I work with clients from all over the country, and some from other countries. If you are not in San Francisco that is no problem since we can talk on the phone, on Skype, and use the Zoom video software as well. In summary, it doesn’t matter where you or, or where I am.
